Girls’ Football Match Reports

Yr8/9 Girls Football VS Ditton Park

The girls knew this would be a difficult game as many players we unavailable or playing for the county team. This meant players had to call in favours with their friends to ensure we had the full 11 players. This did not stop the girls putting in a great performance. Amie and Hollie both taking their turn in goal during this game. The first half saw lots of chances falling to our midfield, but it was a high press from a goal kick tin which Niamh was able to find the back of the net to make it 1-0.

The second half continued to be a challenge with players having to work extremely hard to keep control of the game as Ditton Park were relentless with their defence. Aimee was of a huge impact moving from goal to sticker, receiving the ball at her feet and breaking through the defence for her first goal of the game, 2-0 JMA. Quickly after Amie got a 2nd,  3-0 JMA. Nonetheless Ditton Park continued to apply the pressure, a great strike was saved by Hollie in goal but unfortunately put in the back of our own net when trying to clear, 3-1. The girls kept their heads, attacking strongly the keeper fumbled a JMA strike, controlled by Megan and put in the back of the net by Amie collecting the first hat-trick of the season. The score ended 4-1 JMA.  Well done to Hannah who was nominated players Player of the Game and Amie for teachers Player of the Game. We now wait for the 4th round draw. Congratulations ladies. Keep it up!

The League continues…

Thursday afterschool took us to Oakbank for our next two matches.

Oakbank Vs JMA

This was a very scrappy game with the girls being unable to build any flow with their passing. It was a great cross from Niamh out on the right which was scored by Amie who was waiting in the centre of the box, 0-1. The girls continued to press, with lots of missed chances. The second goal came from a long ball from Niamh’s goal kick, Taneeshae controlled, turned and broke through the defence, with a great strike made it 0-2. Thank you to Natarica and Shanelle who stepped up to play in goal.

JMA Vs Blessed Hugh Farringdon

We quickly conceded a sloppy goal putting us 1 nil down against the 7 players of BHF. Thankfully Carly quickly played a great ball into Taneeshae who scored to make to it 1-1. Our second goal again came for some great individual skill from Taneeshae, running the ball from the half way line getting past 3 players and a great strike to make it 2-1. The final goal again came from Taneeshae, to complete her hat-trick and make it 3-1. The game ended 4-1 JMA with the final goal of the game coming from Amie.  Thank you to Amie and Taneeshae for taking their turn in goal.

Well done girls, these two results leave JMA 3rd in the League.
