IOT Hackerthon

On the 9th and 10th November, seven of our Year 12 Business Studies students attended an event organised by Design Thinking LTD and technology company CISCO. The aim of the event was to give students the opportunity to think creatively about how to solve real life business problems and to develop some key employability skills for the future. The students were split into teams with students from other schools and were paired with a business ambassador who presented the teams with a problem to solve. Over the two days, the teams had to do lots of creative thinking, planning and designing, to come up with their solution to the problem. Each team had members who were looking at the business aspect of the problem and some who were focused on solving the problems with technology. At the end of the two days, all the teams pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. Everyone who attended the event worked hard and presented their ideas eloquently. After the final judging, three teams were awarded prizes, the top two teams had JMA students!

It was a fantastic event enjoyed by all and also gave students exposure to a number of local businesses who will be offering employment opportunities for school leavers.
