Enrichment

Overview

In September 2017, we launched the JMA Specialism and Beyond: Extracurricular Enrichment Programme. We continue to offer an array of activities taking place before school, at break times, and after school.

Each club encompasses a specialism value of performance, teamwork, creativity, or competition. We would like all students to be involved in at least one activity a week, but ideally more, with no limit to the number that can be attended. To attend a club highlighted green, just turn up at the time shown with appropriate kit/equipment and take part. For activities highlighted orange, please see the member of staff leading the activity prior to attending.

Enrichment and Broadening Horizons

John Madejski Academy believes that all students should have access to enrichment opportunities regardless of any barriers or personal circumstances. We have a strongly held belief that providing exceptional experiences outside of our academic curriculum will support students in making exceptional progress and enrich their lives.

Students at KS3 will, for two afternoons a week, elect to participate in a wide range of enriching activities. Students in year 10 will have enrichment for one afternoon a week. Every fourth week, we will bring all students together for collective experience. Inspiring speakers will visit the school to share their wisdom and stories, and provide reflection for our students. We call this ‘Broadening Horizons’. Parents are welcome to attend these sessions and places can be booked by emailing the school [email protected].

Why Join a Club?

Young people’s skills start to grow and evolve from an early age, and their time at school plays a significant role in shaping their attributes and personality. By taking part in our after-school clubs, students enhance their social skills and enjoy spending time with other children outside of the classroom. They also develop a range of other attributes, depending on which club they attend.

"We encourage all pupils to take part in a variety of activities that promote personal growth and achievement."
