Boys Football Update

Boys Football Update

So far this season, the boys remain unbeaten in all 4 leagues; with 13 wins and 2 draws but unfortunately they crashed out of the FA Youth Cup despite dominating the game against Hemel Hempstead. Head Coach Butch said, "The FA Youth Cup is the biggest competition that U18 players can play in and it provides a great learning environment for our boys. It is one that cannot be replicated in any other league or cup competition we play in and is invaluable. It was a great experience for the boys but ultimately they will be disappointed as they should still be in the hat and taking on League One Oxford United in the 1st Round."

The boys do still have hopes of progressing in other cups this year as they have been drawn AWAY to Rochdale in the NFYL Cup which they won last season. They await the draw for the Tactic League Cup 3rd Round and are into round 2 of the Walsh Cup and ESFA Cup.

4 Trial with Coventry City

Third years Salhin & Jordan and First years George & Malachi were invited up to train with League One Coventry City during half term and the feedback was positive. The U18s manager is keen to get 2 of the boys back in to look at them in matches and over a longer period of time which shows that what they are doing and what we are doing here works.

Rep Squad Trials and Selection

National Football Youth League Representative Squad

6 of our Performance Squad were invited in to the NFYL Southern Region Rep Squad Trials. Sonny, Jordan S, Jordan A, Salhin, Malachi and Dan will all be hoping for good news this week as they aim to make it in to the final 32 and look to be selected for the National Rep Squad again in which we had 3 players last season. Congratulations also to our Head Coach Butch who was selected to run the Southern Rep Squad again this season

English School National Squad

2nd years Sonny W, Jordan S and Craig L have all been invited in to the Regional Trial next weekend hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ashleigh Artwell, Manny Agboola, Kensley Maloney, Shandon Baptiste, Ousman Darboe and Salhin Abubakar and make the final squad of 32 at Lilleshall.

Berks & Bucks County Squad

Congratulations to Harry M, Sonny W, Malachi C and Connor S on being called up to the Berks & Bucks squad this season. Unfortunately Harry had to withdraw through injury but should be back available for selection after Xmas.

Slavi Signs Pro at Oxford United

Slavi Spasov was scouted 2 years ago playing for our U16 side against Oxford United and having already made his first team debut and scoring, he has now signed his first professional contract with the league one club. He is the 4th player to have signed Pro with our friends at Oxford and it is a link and progression we are very proud of.
