We are currently in Spain about to start the 3rd and final part of the journey from Valencia to Barcelona before we return on Sunday.
To say this trip changes young peoples’ perspective of the world of sport and European culture is an understatement!
Over the 2 weeks we are away, the trip covers so many different elements of our amazing sport and opens so many doors that students were previously unaware of.
Thanks to the European funding agency of Erasmus+ and to the John Madejski Academy and White Horse Federation we have been able to take 11 boys and 11 girls away for 14 days to one of the best basketball environments in Europe-Spain.
With 5 days in Madrid, 6 in Valencia and 4 in Barcelona the students are able to be immersed in a world where Basketball is a career option, which means so much more than just playing the game.
With visits to local cultural sights, meetings with professional people from a variety of fields, physiotherapy, psychology, coaching, managing, social media and journalism, students eyes have been opened to a new world of sporting opportunities.
We are looking forward to coming home on Sunday to reflect on how this experience has changed students’ perspectives on their future career paths.
