
We are recruiting for two Parent Governors to sit on John Madejski Academy’s Local Governing Body and are inviting applications from anyone wishing to make a contribution to our rewarding educational community.
What we hope you can offer:
- Time: approximately 6 hours a month
- A listening ear and enquiring mind
- The ability to work as part of a team which holds school leaders to account
What we hope you will get out of being a governor:
- The knowledge that you are helping our students
- The satisfaction of giving something back to the community
- New skills which may be useful elsewhere
Governors are appointed to provide:
- A strategic overview of the work of the Academy
- They act as a critical friend to the Academy
- Strong links between our Academy and the community we serve
- A focus on the long term development of the Academy
- Accountability to the community for the use of resources and the standards of teaching and learning within our Academy
- Maintain strong and effective relationships with TWHF
Governors will be involved in activities such as:
- Monitoring the progress of the school improvement plan
- Reviewing the effectiveness of school policies
- Reporting school progress to The White Horse Federation Multi-Academy Trust
- Ensuring the school meets Statutory requirement
Can you commit to:
- Attend meetings of the Governing Board (6 per year)
- Work as a member of the Governing Board (not as an individual) in the best interests of the Academy
- Show an interest in Academy activities
- Become well informed about education in general and about our Academy in particular
- Become familiar with the rules of school governance in an academy trust
- Attend training courses where appropriate.
